      Lisbon Transportation

Lisbon has a transportation network that works smoothly. The metro, trams, funiculars, buses, commuter trains, and ferries make up Lisbon's transportation system. Taxis are available too.

      Trams

Lisbon trams are one of the most convenient modes of transportation. The capital of Portugal now features five tram routes and 58 trams, 40 of which are antique streetcars.

      Buses

Lisbon buses are vital for moving around the city. Particularly for certain journeys, you need to take a bus. Because Lisbon's metro system is very restricted, the city's local buses were previously required for certain travels, such as those to Lisbon Airport. Lisbon has a 600-bus fleet with 146 different routes.

      Funiculars

In Lisbon, the "lifts or elevators" are essentially funiculars that assist locals and tourists. Three funiculars serve the Portuguese capital, all of which were designed by Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard, a Portuguese engineer.  Elevador do Lavra, Elevador da Glória, and Elevador da Bica are the names of the these three lifts.

      Santa Justa Lift

The Santa Justa Lift is a Lisbon elevator that connects the Baixa neighborhood to the Bairro Alto region in the quickest time possible.

      Metro

The Lisbon Metro line is one of Europe's most beautiful and well-maintained systems. It is regarded as one of Europe's best-kept and cleanest metros. There are currently 56 stations and four lines of Lisbon Metro.  We’ve given you the most common methods of transportation in Lisbon. If you want, you can rent a bike or an electric scooter to explore the city. There are also boat tours of Lisbon, which you can enjoy a lot.
